Director of Finance & Administrative Services

The Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG) is seeking a Director of Finance & Administrative Services, with a substantial record of work in areas such as fund accounting, budget development and analysis, financial forecasting, capital financing, investment management, contract management, and financial systems, and have government accounting experience.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess exceptional leadership skills; have a team-oriented management style and be highly collaborative.
    Be an excellent communicator with the ability to present complex ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Be a strategic thinker, creative, and able to identify opportunities for innovation to solve problems and advance the interest of the Agency.
  • Have a thorough understanding of government finance and accounting principles, practices, and methods, standard accounting systems and internal control requirements, GASB accounting standards, financial reporting requirements for funding agencies, government policy processes, and regulations affecting finance operations.
  • Maintain very high ethical standards and have exceptional character who earns the confidence and trust of the StanCOG Policy Board and co-workers.
  • Personify the StanCOG’s values of friendliness, teamwork, public engagement, respect, professionalism, and innovation.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, finance or a closely related field; a Master’s degree and CPA certification are desirable.

Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of responsible experience managing a large and highly complex finance or demonstrating successive advancement in a public agency.
