Improving Performance Measurement in Your Local Government
Thursday, March 18, 2021
The dual promises of performance measurement are, first, that performance measures will boost accountability through performance reporting and, second, that your measures will be valuable tools for performance improvement. But many governments are stumbling on the second of these promises. Getting your performance measures right is an important first step as your department or organization moves toward greater use of data in managing performance. Workshop attendees will hear tips for developing measures that are more useful to operating departments, more aligned with departmental priorities, and more suitable in serving as catalysts for performance improvement.
This Workshop is being presented by David N. Ammons, Professor of Public Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. David N. Ammons has extensively written and taught performance measurement, benchmarking, performance management, and productivity improvement in local government.
