Come speak with a panel of City staff who worked to bring a $15 million, multi-year renovation to fruition at Glendale’s Downtown Central Library. This major capital improvement project turned a 93,000 square foot building from 1973, last renovated in 1992, into a state-of-the-art facility with unique and innovative features, such as the addition of the new, creativity-oriented “MakerSpace” and “Sound Space,” a Digital Lab, an immersive art “Remembrance Room,” and an upgraded auditorium, along with completing necessary infrastructure improvements to keep the building operating safely. Re-opened on May 1, 2017, the new Downtown Central Library is improving public access to information, technology, and serving as a key community gathering space, enhancing the quality of life for Glendale residents and visitors. The panel discussion will be followed by a tour of the new facility, and a networking mixer at Oak and Vine will immediately follow the event.
